Built for a lifetime of shenanigans.

Custom titanium frames...as unique as the rider on it.

Building frames since 2004 - Road, touring, CX, XC and All-Mountain MTB.

Zero Cycles have been around since the early 2000 and have a great track record building and riding their builds. They product test all the time and pass their bikes through hardship to find faults and how to make their builds even better.

Mike, the owner of Zero Cycles, is a straightforward guy who loves bikes and doesn't screw around. If  there is a problem, they have a zero compromise and the bike gets fixed...no hassles...The zero has a deep meaning for him. Bike companies should not make it a hassle and a headache to build, love and get great customer service. He works with you from conception, to build and through the life of your bike = great customer service.

Keep an eye out for our QnA with Mike about his titanium frames and the process of building a custom titanium bicycle.

Cyclers of Seoul - June 27, 2016

#‎scCyclersOfSeoul‬

For this week's Cyclers of Seoul, we met up with Ken for our weekly Monday QnA.

Q: Where are you from and how long have you been in Seoul?

A: My family & I hail from the land called Malaysia. We landed in Incheon International Airport on 26th May 2016, stayed for 2 days and headed south to Busan on 28th May 2016.
=
Q: What bicycle do you ride? (brand, model, style)

- A: I ride a Raleigh Lerun which I bought in 1993 when I needed some wheels to get from my home to my office. (Couldn't afford a car at that time)
=
Q: What is the best thing about Seoul?

A: Seoul is a happening city. The subway system is easy to use and goes to all corners of the city. The city has a mix of the old and the new next to each other.
=
Q: Where is the best place to ride?
-
A: There are so many places that I rode along the 4Rivers trail that can qualify as "best place to ride". I would say the stretch from Banghwa Bridge to Yanghwa Bridge is very pleasant to ride on.
=
Q: Anything else you would like to share?
-
A: South Korea is great for cycling. Fellow cyclists are friendly and very helpful. The scenery is beautiful and plenty of amenities available for cyclists.

If you are interested, I am presently documenting my recent Seoul to Busan trip on " https://rcgang.wordpress.com/my…/south-korea-seoul-to-busan/ ". (It is still work in progress)

For this week's Cyclers of Seoul, we met up with Carl for our weekly Monday QnA.

Q: Where are you from and how long have you been in Seoul?
-
A: I am from Denmark and I have been here since 2008. But in total I have been 14 years in Korea over the years.
=
Q: What bicycle do you ride? (brand, model, style)
-
A: I ride a custom build steel disc Gunnar Fastlane with a XT setup with Gevenalle shifters.
=
Q: What is the best thing about Seoul?
-
A: The variety. There are so many different places, so it never really gets boring.
=
Q: Where is the best place to ride?
-
A: I very much like to get out of Seoul. These days, I particularly like to ride over to Kwanghwa Island, and find places without too many people. I try to stay away from the Han River on weekends for the same reason.

-
A: Just get out there and ride!!

Cyclers of Seoul - June 13, 2016

‪#‎scCyclersOfSeoul

For this week's Cyclers of Seoul, we met up with Sean for our weekly Monday QnA.

Q: Where are you from and how long have you been in Seoul?
-
A: I still call Washington State (USA) my home, although it's been many years since I've lived there. I've lived in Korea a total of nearly 23 years. Lived/worked in Seoul for more than 8 years. (And from north to south, east to west, have flown over the entire country.) South Korea is truly a beautiful country from the ground and from the air!
=
Q: What bicycle do you ride? (brand, model, style)
-
A: I ride a Cannondale Synapse Disc 105. They call the color 'BBQ', not sure why, it doesn't work...I mean as a BBQ…. I'd call it 'Midnight Stealth'
=
Q: What is the best thing about Seoul?
-
A: The people, the places, the expat communities. (And a GREAT subway/train system.)
=
Q: Where is the best place to ride?
-
A: I'm still learning and exploring places to ride. But I haven't had a ride along the paths of the Han Gang that I didn't enjoy. Just when you think 'you've seen it all', you spot something new! (A big shout out to K-Water!)
=
Q: Anything else you would like to share?
-
Q: Well, I had a really long hiatus from bike riding. Really long and I won't say exactly how long, 'cause then you'll figure how 'young' I am (haha). A couple years ago I decided to start riding again. So now I'm on my third bike. Racking up the Kilometers, and making new friends, seeing new places, and of course learning what's new in cycling. I learned about HRR from a guy I ran into at my LBS (Local Bike Shop). And that also led to the discovery of Seoul Cycle, and my first group ride 39 years. (Damn, did just say that!) Thanks to Seoul Cycle for the Cherry Blossom Ride! Seoul Cycle and HRR are great resources for information sharing about all things cycling in Korea. My 'bucket list' for this summer, with a few buddies, is to ride:

1 ) Seoul to Busan

2 ) The Korea East Coast Trail along the ocean

3) Jeju-do.

Again, a special thanks to my 'younger brother from another mother, from the land of the Great White North' Luc! For Seoul Cycle, et al.

Cyclers of Seoul - June 6, 2016

‪#‎scCyclersOfSeoul‬

For this week's Cyclers of Seoul, we met up with Peter for our Monday QnA.

Q: Where are you from and how long have you been in Seoul?

-

A: I'm from NYC and have lived in Yeoju which is 1 hour South East of Seoul for about 3 months.

=

Q: What bicycle do you ride? (brand, model, style)

-

A: I ride a 2011 Trek Madone 5.2 frame with a 2008 Ultegra group set.

=

Q: What is the best thing about Seoul?

-

A: In Seoul there are plenty of places to see and there are bike paths one can navigate to explore the city.

=

Q: Where is the best place to ride?

-

A: : I'm new here so I really don't know ... to be honest, I drive in an around Seoul in my car and traffic is really slow and congested everywhere it seems. So, I would say riding anywhere on your bike beats being in your car in Seoul.

=

Q: Anything else you would like to share?

-

A: I would love to explore the city with other riders. (I actually don't mind being on a bike in traffic since I used to be a NYC messenger for a short time some time ago.) I hope to make some friends who like to ride and go out to ride often!

Q: Where are you from and how long have you been in Seoul?

A: I’m California and have been in Seoul 10 years. I’m a daily cyclist in Seoul for the past 4 years
=
Q: What bicycle do you ride? (Brand, model, style)
-
A: I ride a Wabi Cycles Classic, 2012 steel fixed gear
=
Q: What is the best thing about Seoul?
-
A: The speed of traffic in Seoul is relatively low so city riding is fairly safe. I’m used to riding in traffic and that type of fun chaos. I find that drivers aren't surprised to share lanes with a bike, but you still have to be diligent and safe while cycling with traffic since bad things can happen at any time..
=
Q: Where is the best place to ride?
-
A: Best ride so far is anywhere out of the city, or even better: central Seoul after 2am during summer. The streets are quiet, empty, and basically becomes a huge urban playground. There are also some great hills north of the river in the Itaewon area.
=
Q: Anything else you would like to share?
-
A: Bike camping is also a blast and cheap - convenience stores are everywhere and open 24/7. In my experience, there seems to be a law that allows overnight camping along any body of water.

For this week's Cyclers of Seoul, we met up with Chen for our Monday QnA.

Q: Where are you from and how long have you been in Seoul?
-
A: I am from Malaysia and will be staying here in Korea for 4 months. I am doing a student exchange program at a Korean University.
=
Q: What bicycle do you ride? (brand, model, style)
-
A: My bike is Samchully, Appalanchia NX1.0 and it's a road bike. It has been serving me well so far and I just recently rode it to Busan from Seoul!
=
Q: What is the best thing about Seoul?
A: The best thing of Seoul is the excellent public transport system. Every place in Seoul is accessible with either subway or by bus. And it is also relatively cheap and well maintained.
=
Q: Where is the best place to ride?
-
A: Hangang path is the best place for me to ride especially during the evening to enjoy the sunset. Another great this is that the Han River path is so smooth and it is not easy to get lost. All the paths are pretty straight forward when it gets dark, the city lights and bridges are amazing to take it all in. It's a short escape from the hectic life in this busy city and all of my studies.
=
Q: Anything else you would like to share?
-
A: I would like to recommend people to seize some holiday for a cycling trip from Seoul to Busan, I just recently did it with a friend and it was so fun. We got our 4 rivers booklet to get stamps and get our cross country medal/certificate. We missed a few booths but we plan on going and finishing them off soon. Get out there and do it too. You won't be regret of it!

Cyclers of Seoul QnA - May 2, 2016

‪#‎scCyclersOfSeoul‬

For this week's Cyclers of Seoul QnA, we met up with Haewon .
_
_
Q: Where are you from and how long have you been in Seoul?
-
A: I am from Korea and I have been in Seoul around 8 to 9 years.
=
Q: What bicycle do you ride? (brand, model, style)
-
A: I ride a Giant SCR 2 ROAD. It is my third bike and I recently purchased it last month. In this year, I plan to participant in one triathlon. But I am not sure if I join it or not.
=
Q: What is the best thing about Seoul?
-
A: I think that the best thing about Seoul is being able to meet people from various careers and cultures. There are also lots experiences such as historic sites, landmarks, parks and sports to play and more . As you know or not, there are many good food to eat, shopping, and city tours. And I also recommend that you try to get sports experiences in Seoul like cycling, hiking, windsurfing and etc.
=
Q: Where is the best place to ride?
-
A: Good and hard question to answer. Because there are lots of beautiful riding courses in Seoul and all over Korea. So I would like to recommend two places.
*
1 - The first course is in Seoul and it is called by palace tour. You can start from Jungnangcheon to Namdaemoon Market. You are able to see Korean traditional culture with your bike.
2 - The second place is the Seomjinggang Bicycle Road. It consists of 5 courses (around 154 kilometers). If you visit there, I recommend you plan to stay there 3 or 4 days because there are very good places for you to see on your bicycle and also great hiking tours.
=
Q: Anything else you would like to share?
-
A: Long time ago, I went on bicycle trip with friends from Seoul to Jeju island. I remember that we traveled for 10 days. At that time, we slept in empty classrooms, tent and a staff lounge of neighborhood patrol to cut down on expenses and also cooked by ourselves.

And I recommend you participate in some competition for fun such as a Triathlon, GrandFondo or bicycle festivals. After you complete, you feel very cool and it will remain in your memory. I also would like to travel to other countries and join some kind of event abroad. That is my goal in near future. Any recommendation is welcomed! Thank you! Good luck to all.

Cyclers of Seoul - April 18, 2016

‪#‎scCyclersOfSeoul‬

Seoul Cycle is starting a weekly Monday release of Cyclers of Seoul. Where we have a short QnA with people who ride their bicycle in Seoul.

So stay tuned every Monday for our Cyclers of Seoul. And here is Nicky from U.S.A. to kick it off
-

Q: How long have you been in Seoul?
-

A: I am in Seoul for only 10 days but I plan on coming back sometime this summer to do more cycling. There seems to be lots of great trails to ride and I also want to the Seoul to Busan.
=
Q: Your ride?
-
A: I ride a Single Speed Jamis Sputnik. It is my old bike from when I used to be a bike messenger in New York and I use it for travelling around too. But while in Seoul, I am riding my friend’s Giant.
=
Q: Best thing about Seoul?
-
A: Meeting people, awesome food, and rich history. My friends in Seoul have shown me many great places to go out and I love the night seen here. People are always up for fun and know how to have fun. I’ve been to many places around the world and I really like it here. I plan on coming back and having a longer vacation here.
=
Q: Best place to ride?
-
A: So far, I’ve only ridden on parts of the Han river. But it was great, well organized and you can see many things along the river path. The Yeoido Cascading Falls was a cool place to stop and take some photos.
=
Q: You mentioned that you did some touring on your single speed, how was it?
-

A: It was amazing. In 2012 I biked across Europe over a 6 months period covering over 7,000 kilometers. I biked the whole continent starting in Instanbul and ending in Spain. I used my single speed with carbon fiber aerospoke wheels.I love the low maintenance of the single speed and it was a great ride. I only got a few flats and changed my chain once. I mostly used couchsurfers for lodging. Then in 2013 I rode around Iceland for 3 weeks and mostly camped out in my tent. I have lots of pictures and videos of my trips.

Check out my transcontinental European video at Bike2012.nickypallas.com

Interview: Zero Cycles - Donkey Box love

We are lucky to see so many bikes here in Seoul of all levels and quality. Many bikes make us look back in admiration, however there is only one bike, so far, that made me look back a few times and actually made me feel funny in my pants. Maybe this is what cyclists talk about when they mention bike porn; I never really got it till now…this bike is truly a “wow” moment to see it roll by you. It is truly a love at first sight.

Say hello to Zero Cycles’ “Swamp Donkey” with Pinion drivetrain, also affectionately dubbed the “DonkeyBox”. It is a custom titanium road bike sporting some cool designs and cutting edge technology.

Zero’s frames are all hand built using tubing custom designed and built for their own company. No flexy small-diameter off-the-shelf tubing here, that you’ll find on most any other custom titanium frame.

For the Swamp Donkey and DonkeyBox frames the custom tubing is fat and arched, with continuous dual toptubes that sweep down to become the bullet-tipped seatstays. The tubing and lines look very clean and flowy, and that is accented by the internal cable routing to keep visuals clean and uncluttered.

Other than the sexy swoopy lines of this frame, the main eye-catcher is the drivetrain. This isn’t your typical noisy, dirty, finnicky derailleur setup: it’s an internally geared Pinion transmission offering 12 speeds, connected to the rear wheel by a Gates carbon belt drive. This combination gives the bike a very clean, quiet, low maintenance drivetrain, still with much more gear range than any derailleur setup. Pinion is a German company, started by two ex-Porsche transmission designers when they wanted to improve their own bike riding experience.
No more rusty chains, chain oil, or peeing on your iced up rear derailleur while Winter commuting to keep it spinning. No more derailleurs going into your rear wheel, or getting ripped off in crashes.

The frames also sport hydraulic disc brakes, a much more reliable option for year round riding in the rain, snow, ice, mud, or for loaded touring. The frame and fork both have large diameter tool-free throughaxles as an interface with the custom carbon wheels. They are much safer, stronger, stiffer and much more reliable that the typical flimsy QR levers you find on your average road bikes.

Michael, Zero Cycles’ Canadian designer and owner says Zero stands for “Zero compromises in building the perfect bicycle frame for every customer, Zero broken frames, and Zero bullshit in the process of having it built up.” “When you get one of our custom titanium bikes, we work with you every step of the way to build up something that you can love and ride hard for the rest of your life.”

Zero Cycles customizes your build according to your body measurements and riding style. They have sexy and rugged custom titanium XC, AM, Road, Touring, Cyclocross, and Bikepacking frames available. According to Michael, “These bikes are made to be loved….and by “loved” we mean spanked; hard and dirty.”

Check out Zero Cycles’s Facebook page for more pictures about their great looking bikes and past, current and future builds. I am sure we will see some more amazing bikes coming out from this company.   www.facebook.com/ZeroCycles

Company overview:

- Zero stands for Zero comprimises in building the perfect frame.

- Currently producing rugged custom titanium XC, All-Mountain, Road, Touring, Cyclocross, and Bikepacking frames.

- Owner is trusted bicycle designer, mechanic, welder and knows bikes.

- Uses cutting edge technology and products for your custom bicycle
